Dimension X was a popular Science Fiction program that aired from 1950 to 1951. It gained respect within the Science Fiction community, and many of the scripts were written by or based on works by luminaries like Kurt Vonnegut, Isaac Asimov, Ray Bradbury, and Robert A. Heinlein.

The episode presented here, “Marionettes Inc.,” featured a script by George Lefferts that was based on a short story by Ray Bradbury.

In 1955, NBC Radio decided to revive Dimension X under the name X-Minus One. It was broadcast until 1958. The first 15 episodes were new versions of Dimension X episodes; however, the program then branched out and began presenting all new work. Like Dimension X, the program featured the work of some of America's greatest Science Fiction writers.
